Spring Road Trip Ideas from Havant

We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite places to visit in Hampshire, ideal for picking up a hire vehicle from us here in Havant and heading out for a change of scenery. If you’re in need of inspiration or just a good excuse for a spring drive, we’ve got you covered.

Basingstoke Canal

Basingstoke might not be the first place that springs to mind for a summer day out, but trust us - it’s brilliant for a walk, paddle, and picnic.

Head into Odiham, where you can hire a canoe or just enjoy a peaceful stroll along the paths.

Pack a picnic, spot some ducks, and soak up the atmosphere.

The Watercress Line

If you’ve read any of our previous road trip blogs, you’ll know we love this one.

Start your trip in the beautiful town of Alresford, then hop aboard the Watercress Line - a real steam train that goes through the Hampshire countryside.

It’s full of charm, countryside views and it’s a big hit with families (and let’s be honest, grown-up’s too!)

Emsworth

A hidden gem just 10 minutes from our Havant office, and we never get tired of it.

Park up in Emsworth for a walk along the water, pop into one of the local pubs or cafes, and maybe even try a bit of crabbing.

It’s also the perfect spot for an ice cream while you watch the swans and sailboats go by.

Royal Victoria Country Park

One of those places that just ticks every box - sea views, green spaces, and plenty of room for a ball game, picnic or a spot of kite flying!

The chapel tower (all that remains of a Victorian military hospital) give the park its unique character.

It’s a great place to relax and recharge.
