While we do offer a disabled toilet on the ground floor and have designated disabled parking bays, it's important to note that our offices are situated on the first floor of the building, accessible only via a flight of stairs. Regrettably, there are no lifts available in our premises. If you require assistance upon arrival, please don't hesitate to contact us in advance so we can make suitable arrangements.

Yes, a deposit is required this is standard practice across all hire companies. Our deposit for all vehicles is £500. This will be returned provided the vehicle is brought back in the same condition it left us in.

Yes. You can have as many additional drivers as you require. All drivers are required to produce the relevant documents and an additional charge for insuring the additional driver(s).

All drivers must to bring in their full drivers Licence (card part), 2 other forms of ID e.g. your current passport and a utility bill that shows your name and address. Lastly, national Insurance number or a check code from the DVLA website, which enables us to look up the drivers details.

Yes. You are welcome to take your hire vehicle abroad. You will need foreign insurance and breakdown cover, which we can arrange for you at a modest additional fee. Please advise us upon booking if you are travelling abroad.

Yes. Here at Motorent, we see it as our job to be as flexible as possible. If you want to extend your booking for any reason whatsoever, please simply call the office on 02392 002002.

All of our vehicles are of course fully, regularly and professionally serviced and maintained but in the unlikely event that you do breakdown, rest assured that we have AA cover, both Roadside Recovery and Home Start. In the first instance, please call the office on 02392 002002.

As a general rule up to 6 points within the past 3 years can be accepted for offences such as speeding, parking or construction and use. If you have endorsements for driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, driving with no insurance or have been banned from driving in the last 10 years it is recommended that you contact us.

If you are looking to hire a vehicle privately, we will always include the cost of our insurance within your quote. If you are a business hiring one of our vehicles, we will need to know whether you have your own fleet insurance (we will need a copy of this) or if you need to take out our insurance, this will determine the cost of the hire. If you are unsure, please ask at the time of quoting.

Excess is the amount of money you pay towards a claim for loss of or damage to your hire vehicle. The cost of your excess will vary depending on the make, model, size and value of the vehicle. You can reduce your excess by taking out additional CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) at a small fee, please ask the office about this.

All vehicles are covered on the public highway comprehensively with an accidental damage excess. Your vehicle damage liability is between £500 and £1500 and is also subject to endorsements, previous accidents and driving experience.

Insurance will not cover you for the following:

Windscreen, glass, mirrors and tyre damage.

Interior damage e.g. cigarette burns and rips interior

Roof or overhead damage above the height of the windscreen

Damage when the vehicle is not on the public highway

Damage or theft caused by the negligence of the hirer

Damage caused by racing or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Vandalism

If the terms and conditions of the rental agreement are breached.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) this is related to your excess  can be purchased to reduce your excess. The following is not covered:

Windscreen, glass, mirrors, tyre damage, roof/overhead damage above height of windscreen or vandalism.

You may opt to to take our CDW waiver to reduce your excess liability.

CDW can be reduced - this will cost £8 + VAT per day per £100 excess.

Advance protection will limit any glass/ windscreen damage to a maximum £250 + VAT and tyre/ alloy damage limited to a maximum of £50 + VAT per tyre/ alloy. It will also limit damage due to vandalism to £250 + VAT . This cost will be £12 + VAT per day.

We operate a strict no eating, drinking or smoking policy in all our rental vehicles. Evidence of any such activity may result in additional cleaning or damage charges in-line with our tariff, which is available in our offices. 

VAT will be charged at current rates on rental, fuel, waivers, delivery and collection charges and any other taxable items.

Payment can be made by Debit Card, Mastercard, or Visa. We do not accept Amex or Diners cards.

Hirers are required to pay a security deposit £500. The security deposit takes approximately 3-5 working days to process back to your account once it has been actioned. We reserve the right to hold your deposit if the vehicle is not brought back in the same condition it left us in.

Whilst every effort will be made to supply the model requested, in the event of it being unavailable, an alternative model will be provided if at all possible. We will notify you as soon as possible if a similar vehicle is not available.

  • When calling for quotes keep your rentals in periods of 24 hours (our rental days). This means you will get the most out of your rental and it will keep costs down. 

  • Bring the correct ID. We will need your driver’s licence (card part), two additional forms of I.D. (utility bill, bank statement, passport). We will also need your NI number or the DVLA check code (call for more details if you are unsure).

  • Check you know what to do in the event of a breakdown or accident. We will give you all telephone numbers needed but if you are unsure, please ask.

  • Check the vehicle thoroughly for any damage before leaving! We will check round the vehicle with you and mark any damage down on our paperwork. 

  • Ensure you know the type of fuel and where the fuel cap is (all vehicles are different). Mark down how much fuel the vehicle has in upon collection and make sure you return the vehicle with the same amount. 

  • Check you know how to operate the vehicle safely and correctly. And make sure you set up the sat nav/radio before driving! We are more than happy to help.

  • Be careful of curbs when parking your rental vehicle, scuffed alloys are the most common piece of damage we find.

  • Before returning the vehicle check you have not left any personal belongings. Do not forget to check the boot! The most common lost articles include mobile phones, sunglasses and umbrellas.
